PhD Pre-Application Review (PAR) program

ChEGO and the ChemE DEI Committee are teaming up to launch a PhD Pre-Application Review (PAR) program.

The broad goal of this initiative is to create equal access to application mentorship opportunities for applicants from historically underrepresented communities by providing guidance in Columbia's Chemical Engineering doctoral program application process. With this program, we hope to broaden the representation within the graduate research fields of chemical engineering.

The PhD Pre-Application Review (PAR) program is being offered to MS/PhD or PhD applicants wherein they can get feedback on their application materials before the final submission. A current PhD student in your research area(s) of interest will review your statement of purpose (and resume if provided). There will also be a webinar on Monday, November 15th (6 PM ET) featuring current PhD student panelists on best practices while applying to grad school.

This is a student-run volunteer program. It is separate from the admissions process: program reviewers are not part of the admissions committee, and the feedback you receive is not disclosed to the admissions committee. Additionally, your participation does not guarantee admission into the Columbia Chemical Engineering PhD program.

Please register for PAR Program feedback and/or the webinar here. Participation in this program is first-come, first-served, and dependent on the availability of our volunteer PhD reviewing pool. The deadline for submitting application materials is December 1st at 11:59 PM ET. We will try to return feedback within one week.
