Center for Career Education Resources
The Center for Career Education works with Columbia Engineering undergraduate students to help them define career goals and gain meaningful work experiences through:
- LionSHARE, our internship and jobs database
- Domestic and international internship programs
- Career Fairs, including the Engineering Consortium Career Fair and Networking Reception, the Start-up Career Fair, and the Fall and Spring Career Fairs
- Alumni connections and networking events, including engineering student-alumni speed networking, Columbia career connections on LinkedIn, employer site visits and professionals in residence
- Individual career counseling, workshops, and online resources to help with internship and job applications, interviewing, networking, negotiations and the decision to pursue graduate school
- Chemical Engineering industry-specific covering career paths, employers, professional associations, internship/job sites and research opportunities

- Curricular Practical Training is an employment authorization for international graduate students on an F-1 visa to gain practical skills and training through employment as part of the degree curriculum
International Students
International students may be eligible to work off-campus, or through an internship, while enrolled in a degree program. Once graduated, eligible international students may also work off-campus or in an internship. Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT) are two federal programs that permit this employment.
