The Mateo Williams Diversity Award

The Department of Chemical Engineering at Columbia University is honored to establish the Mateo Williams Diversity Award to honor the dedication of Mateo to diversity, equity and inclusion. The award will be given annually to a graduate or undergraduate student in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Columbia University. The award consists of a plaque and a check for $1,000.

Below is the nomination procedure:

Nominator: Any student or faculty can be the nominator. Self-nominations are allowed.

Nomination Materials: The nominator should submit a nomination package consisting of the following: one nomination letter, a one-page DEI statement from the nominee, and a CV of the nominee containing both academic achievements and DEI efforts. The nomination package should be sent by email to the department DEI chair (currently Jingguang Chen, [email protected]) or submitted using the form linked here.

Nomination Deadline: April 1st annually.

Award Selection and Announcement: The nominations will be evaluated by a committee consisting of students and faculty. The awardee will be announced by May 1st annually
